14 Feb Website Of The Week: Tin Drum Music
Today’s website of the week comes from the London-based music composition house Tin Drum Music.
Like most commercial music websites, the most important thing is to immediately showcase your work, and the designer doesn’t waste any time in doing that.
A previous project immediately starts playing upon arrival, using strong black top & bottom borders to give an authentically cinematic feel. The visuals are overlaid with the Tin Drum Music logo, which uses a smart, sophisticated serif font. First impressions are great, but let’s scroll down and see what else we can find!
Now, here’s where things start to get really interesting. The designer has used meteor graphics and mind-blowing focus pulls to create a unique three-dimensional look. The way the graphics scroll along with the text really makes you feel like you can dive into the website!
Everything on this website is contained within one page, making use of anchors and smooth-scrolling to create a sense of flow and continuity. While having everything on one page might not be the best decision from an SEO standpoint, you can’t deny that this website really does push boundaries.
Unfortunately, the mobile view does let the site down a little bit. Granted, it is more difficult to have the same responsiveness on mobile, but gone are the unique scrolling animations that made the desktop view so special. A website like this really is designed to be viewed on desktop rather than mobile.
All in all, this is a truly great website and really pushes the envelope in terms of what a website can do. Let’s just hope that whoever is viewing it is looking on their mobile!
